The information was released this Tuesday by the Minister of State and Head of the House of Security of the President of the Republic, Francisco Pereira Furtado, at the end of a meeting with members of the Multisectorial Commission to Combat and Prevent Covid-19.

The responsible also announced, according to Angop, an increase in the testing capacity.

Other updates following the pandemic include the possibility that next Sunday, the 8th, it will be possible to ease some restrictions, following the renewal of the public calamity decree. However, the possibility of strengthening some restrictive measures in specific situations is not excluded.

The Government's main concern is now to ease the economy through a set of measures that allow a slow and controlled return to normality. There is also the possibility of lifting the sanitary fence in Luanda.

The need to pay more attention to the border provinces, which have been experiencing an increase in infections, such as Lunda Norte and Sul, Cuando Cubango and Moxico, was reinforced.

He recalled, however, that the decrease in cases in Luanda, together with a higher recovery rate, does not mean that an increase in cases cannot be seen again, taking into account the appearance of the delta variant, already known as an index very high level of contagion.

Angola currently has 43,020 positive cases, with 1022 deaths, 39,389 recovered and 2609 active cases. Of the active, seven are critical, 14 severe, 89 moderate, 39 mild and 2460 asymptomatic.
