In the year that marks 40 years of existence, the largest Spanish art fair takes place with the challenge of "reactivating the market", counting on the presence of 130 galleries from 26 countries, among which nine Portuguese - four less than last year -, three Brazilian and two Angolan.

The general program includes six Portuguese galleries - 3+1 Arte Contemporânea, Bruno Múrias, Filomena Soares, Miguel Nabinho, Pedro Cera, and Vera Cortês, all from Lisbon - one Brazilian, Baró (São Paulo), and one Angolan, Movart (Luanda).

In the 'Opening' section (curated shows) the Portuguese galleries Duarte Sequeira (Braga), Balcony and Uma Lulik (both Lisbon), and the Angolan Jahmek (Luanda) participate.

This year's edition gives a different emphasis to the Latin American presence, with the Remitente section, which incorporates two Brazilian galleries: Casa Triângulo and Luciana Brito Galeria, both from São Paulo.

One of the novelties of this year's ARCOmadrid is the concentration of 25 art projects, all by women, to help increase the visibility and protagonism of female creators, which includes the Angolan gallery Jahmek, with a project by Helena Uambembe.

This year's edition of ARCOmadrid will be held, as usual, at IFEMA (Madrid Fairs), after having been postponed from February - the initially planned date - to July, in order to offer "commercial success guarantees", according to the organizers.

The organization sought a date that could provide "a better environment to allow international mobility", in a "more stable" economic context.
