They have made a “very valuable contribution, very important indeed, Macau in particular, through the Macau Forum, contributed with some donations in terms of prevention material, as well as the People's Republic of China, through the central government,” said the consul. of Mozambique in Macau.
“I think they have been strategic partners in this fight against the pandemic”, summarized Rafael Custódio Marques.
The head of the Mozambican mission in Macau stressed that the aid materialized mainly at the level of “material to prevent and combat the pandemic and even in relation to the exchange of information, at a technical level, at a medical level, through video conferences. ”.
The importance of Chinese aid and the former territory administered by Portugal was also shared by the consul general of Angola in Macau.
“From the Forum [Macau] we have received all the necessary support, within the possibilities of the Forum. We recently received the offer (…) of some material to combat the pandemic, we are already grateful, but it never hurts to continue receiving this support ”, said Eduardo Velasco Galiano.
The head of the Angolan mission in Macau also underlined the aid provided directly by mainland China, where “a lot of material was also acquired”.
Their statements were made in the margins of a session to share the results of the work carried out by a group of anti-epidemic medical experts from the Government of China in Algeria and Sudan, between 14 May and 11 June, which included the first participation of the kind of Macau experts.
Both Eduardo Velasco Galiano and Rafael Custódio Marques did not rule out the possibility of requesting support from a similar team, which would provide support in combating the pandemic in terms of prevention and training.
The two diplomats, however, stressed that the situation in their respective countries is "under control".
