The manager explained that there were no longer any conditions for the Portuguese coach to continue, having been fired in May, three rounds before the end of the championship, despite the support that Ricardo Chéu received from some athletes for his permanence.
“When we sign contracts with coaches, everything is done based on objectives. The coach had four objectives. He failed at the first, which was the Afro Cup, and then we lost the second, the Angola Cup. From then on, there were no conditions for him to continue”, he said.
The Portuguese coach saw his contract terminated three rounds before the end of the championship, when the team, which had won the competition for the fourth consecutive time, remained top of the Girabola, with 59 points, the result of 17 wins, eight draws and one defeat.
Ricardo Chéu was the target of several criticisms from the club's membership, fans and the press, due to his premature withdrawal from the African Football League, in September 2024, after taking over the team, despite winning the Angola Super Cup, and due to his elimination from the Angola Cup.
