According to a statement from the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), to which VerAngola had access, the national team's first training session in South Africa took place last Tuesday, while the second training session is scheduled for this Wednesday.
"The National Honors Football Team held its first training session in the city of Bloemfontein on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 3, with a view to participating in the Cosafa Cup, which will take place from the 4th to the 15th of this month in Terras de Madiba", the statement reads.
"Despite the setback caused by the poor condition of the grass at the training ground, coach Pedro Gonçalves worked on rehearsed plays with a greater offensive bias", the FAF said, adding that "the next training session for the current Cosafa champions will take place at 3:00 pm this Wednesday".
A total of 23 athletes were called up for the competition. They are goalkeepers Agostinho, Dominique and Neblú, as well as defenders Alexandre, Caica, Buatu Jonathan, Jordy Gaspar, Hossi, Pedro Bondo, Mabelé, Mindinho and Vidinho.
Also among those called up are midfielders Além, Aguinaldo, Keliano, Randy Nteka and Show and forwards Chico Banza, Depú, Gilberto, Kaporal, Milson and Zini.
Angola is scheduled to make its debut in the Cosafa Cup this Thursday against Namibia.
"The Palancas Negras will play their first match of the competition against the Namibian team on Thursday, June 5, at 6:00 pm in South Africa, 5:00 pm in Angola," the FAF also states.
In the competition, Angola is part of Group B, which also includes Malawi, Namibia and Lesotho.
