TAAG says new Dash8-400 aircraft should "bring Angolans together at low cost

TAAG announced on Saturday that the first of the six Dash8-400 aircraft acquired from Canadian aircraft manufacturer De Havilland Aircraft, will arrive in the country on Monday, and "should unite Angola and the Angolans at low cost.

:

The press reported in April that the six aircraft will cost the state about 118 million dollars.

According to TAAG's commercial director, Carlos Von Hafe, the introduction of new Dash8-400 aircraft, whose fleet should be complete by May 2021, should "unite the country in a more comfortable way and with margin for tariff reductions".

The responsible, who was speaking this Saturday in a press conference in Luanda, said that the new fleet of flights of Canadian origin will contribute to "the reduction of the operational costs of the company by about 30 percent, especially on the routes where it will operate".

TAAG has elected the routes Dundo (Lunda Norte province), Saurimo (Lunda Sul), Luena (Moxico) and Menongue (Cuando-Cubango), to operate initially with Dash8-400.

According to him, the first aircraft will be allocated "immediately" as soon as it arrives in the country.

Carlos Von Hafe assured that the six aircraft will provide domestic coverage "in the medium term", and in addition to the routes where the company already operates in the country, the first aircraft should increase the level of frequency with the opening of the routes Uíje, Malanje and Mbanza Congo.

The aircraft will be allocated, in a second phase, to certain regional routes, namely Ponta Negra and Brazzaville (Congo), São Tomé and Lusaca (Zambia), he stressed.

The Dash8-400 model has a capacity of 74 seats, of which 64 in economy class and 10 in business class.

According to the company's commercial director, the aircraft appear as part of the modernisation of the company's fleet with a new visual identity in the graphic lines, colours and logo of the brand.

With the new aircraft, he noted, the company wants to ensure high safety standards, increase punctuality to over 90 percent and increase regularity in domestic and international operations.

"We also want to guarantee less cancellation on domestic flights," he said.

The current Boeing 737 and 777 should gradually migrate to the new brand image.
