Covid-19: Hemodialysis patients at the Multiperfil Clinic in Luanda tested negative

The Secretary of State for Public Health said this Monday that the Multiperfil Clinic in Luanda, which is under sanitary fence, continues to make hemodialysis, having already tested 150 patients with negative results for covid-19.

Franco Mufinda made the daily epidemiological assessment of the new coronavirus in the country and said that patients in the hemodialysis service of the Multiperfil clinic "continue to deserve their treatment with the definition of a new flow of care for them".

The Multiperfil clinic, one of the public hemodialysis treatment centres in Luanda, was placed under sanitary fence on Saturday due to the several cases of infection with the new coronavirus detected in that hospital unit.

"Even today little more than 150 patients who depend on this service have been tested and all of them with negative results," stressed Franco Mufinda.

Angola has not registered any new cases of infection with the new coronavirus in the last 24 hours, remaining with 86 diagnosed infections, of which four have died.

Among the African countries that have Portuguese as their official language, Guinea Bissau leads in number of infections (1339 cases and eight deaths), followed by Equatorial Guinea (1306 cases and 12 deaths), São Tomé and Príncipe (484 cases and 12 deaths), Cape Verde (457 cases and four deaths), Mozambique (254 cases and two deaths) and Angola (86 infected and four deaths).

On a global level, according to an assessment by the AFP news agency, the covid-19 pandemic has already caused more than 373,000 deaths and infected more than 6.2 million people in 196 countries and territories.

More than 2.5 million patients have been considered cured.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected at the end of December in Wuhan, a city in central China.
