Covid-19: country with 151 more cases and six deaths, new high since February

Health authorities announced this Tuesday 151 more infections by the new coronavirus and six deaths, the highest number since February of this year, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health.

The new cases were reported in Luanda (128), Huambo (9), Huíla (6), Benguela (4), Uíge (3) and Lunda Sul (1), aged between 3 months and 88 years, of which 67 were males and 84 females.

In the last 24 hours six deaths were also reported, being three in Luanda and three in Huíla, of Angolan citizens between 42 and 70 years old and another 50 people were recovered from the disease, being 32 in Luanda, 11 in Huíla, five in Benguela and two in Huambo.

The laboratories processed 1638 samples by RT-PCR, in a cumulative that points to 510,181 processed tests with a positivity rate of 5.3 percent.

In total, Angola registers 27,284 cases, 24,190 recovered from the disease, 2485 active (including 11 critical, 21 severe) and 609 deaths, as well as 228 hospitalized patients and 102 people in institutional quarantine.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 3,214,644 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 153.4 million cases of infection, according to an assessment by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
