Covid-19: Japan provides 450,000 million to support vaccination system in Angola

The Japanese government has provided Angola with 450,000 dollars in emergency aid to support the response to covid-19 and to strengthen the vaccine management, storage and distribution system, according to an official statement.

:

Japanese support "aims to ensure that UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) and the Angolan Ministry of Health work closely together to strengthen the management, storage and distribution systems for the covid-19 vaccine", says one joint statement from the Government of Japan and UNICEF.

The introduction of more doses of vaccines against covid-19 will have a significant impact on the vaccine supply chain and storage capacity in refrigeration chambers.

UNICEF has supported the Angolan vaccination plan in the logistical part, namely in terms of the refrigeration chamber system to ensure that the country can safely store and distribute vaccines, in addition to the other routine vaccines.

The Executive plans to vaccinate about 52 percent of the 22 million people eligible for vaccination by the end of this year.

Angola has vaccinated to date about 513 thousand people against the covid-19.
