According to Camões, the show "Sinédoque" is a concert created entirely with unpublished works for piano and reciter, with Portuguese poetry and music, performed by the actor Ivo Canelas (reciter) and João Vasco (piano).
Evoking the figure of style through which "the part for the whole" or "the whole for the part" is expressed, the show "Sinédoque" revisits and reinvents the work of Portuguese poets from the 20th and 21st centuries, including Alexandre O'Neill, Ruy Belo or Margarida Vale de Gato, says Camões, in a statement.
A century and a half after the golden age of the art of "Song" and "Melodrama", pianist João Vasco created works for recited voice and piano, translating the essence of each literary work into music. The actor Ivo Canelas, known and respected by the general public, but also by theater and poetry lovers, interprets the poems and shares the artistic direction with João Vasco, he adds.
This show, currently on tour, premiered in 2023 and was presented in Tunis (Tunisia), in Mindelo and Praia (Cape Verde), in Paris (France), in the Portuguese city of Elvas and, in March 2024, in Brasília, São Paulo and Foz do Iguaçu (Brazil).
