The information was released this Tuesday at the end of the day by Franco Mufinda, Secretary of State for Public Health, at the usual press conference on the state of the country in response to the coronavirus calamity.
According to the official, the epidemiological situation in the country has remained the same in the last 24 hours, with regard to the knowledge of new cases of infection. Twelve people whose tests were positive are still undergoing clinical follow-up, being hospitalized but stable.
Another recovered patient is registered, which increases the number of cases that won the disease to five. “We inform you that there was a change. However, this change is positive. The country has just recovered one more patient, ”said Franco Mufinda, cited by OPaís.
The Secretary of State explained that in percentage terms the recoveries of patients in the country are around 26 percent, with the world average being 23 percent. “We think that we are doing well. So, we must continue, ”said the official.
Luanda remains the only province affected by covid-19 so far, with confirmed cases in Talatona, Belas, Maianga, Ingombota, Samba, Viana and Kilamba Kiaxi.
The age group of 19 confirmed positive cases in the country - 12 in recovery, 5 recovered and 2 deaths - is between one and 62 years old, with a predominance of males. The nationalities of those infected are Angolan and South African.
Franco Mufinda added that more than 7000 people remain in the home quarantine and 428 people in institutional quarantine.
So far 1186 samples have been processed for testing, a number that is expected to rise next week with a new approach by the Ministry of Health to testing. The diagnostic process will be extended to 15 provinces.
