The head of state began his official visit to China this Friday and one of the moments that marked the day was his meeting with his Chinese counterpart. According to a note from the Presidency of the Republic, to which VerAngola had access, at the meeting, João Lourenço invited Xi Jinping to "make an official visit to Angola", which he accepted.

"The invitation was accepted, and the date for the visit will be set through the appropriate channels", says the Presidency of the Republic.

The President of China, upon accepting the invitation, recalled that in 2010, while still serving as Vice-President of the People's Republic of China, he visited Angola, keeping "intense memories" of that trip, especially the "effusive reception" in Luanda.

"I remember, 14 years ago, seeing in Luanda several buildings under construction, many projects in progress. I have every honor in accepting your invitation", said the Chinese president, quoted in the Presidency's note.

Still within the theme of invitations, João Lourenço said that he "agrees to participate in the next edition of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum (FOCAC) scheduled for September 2024 in Beijing", the invitation to which was made by Xi Jinping, at the meeting.

The meeting between the two presidents served to affirm the "purpose of strengthening the cooperation that links" the two countries.

On the occasion, the President of China mentioned "concrete actions of bilateral cooperation, highlighting his Government's commitment to the good progress of the Caculo Cabaça, Porto do Caio projects and the development of Broadband in Angola", says another note from the Presidency, to which VerAngola had access.

He also said that Chinese political power will continue to "encourage and support competitive Chinese companies to do business in Angola", still leaving open the possibility of Angolan companies operating in China.

"Good quality Angolan products are welcome in China", he said, adding that his country will continue to offer scholarships to Angolans, as well as "sending medical teams to Angola and promoting cooperation between hospitals".

Twelve legal cooperation instruments signed

It is also worth highlighting, this Friday, the signing of twelve legal instruments of cooperation, the act of which was witnessed by the President of the Republic and his Chinese counterpart.

The agreements, according to the Presidency of the Republic, cover several areas. Among the initialed instruments are memorandums of understanding in the Agricultural domain, on Exchange and Cooperation between Media, on Investment in Infrastructures to Support the Digital Economy and also on Cooperation in the Field of Green, Ecological and Low Carbon Development.
