"It is a relevant project that allows the transformation of bauxite into aluminum and the manufacturing of aluminum electrical cables locally", said the holder of the Energy and Water portfolio, speaking to the press, this Thursday, in the Chinese capital, on the sidelines of a meeting between João Lourenço and Zhang Wedong, chairman of the Board of Directors of Hebei Huatong Cable Group.

According to Baptistas Borges, this project is important for the sector he oversees, since the energy consumption of the manufacturing unit is expected to be approximately 400 megawatts per hour, corresponding to revenues for the public domain of electricity companies and for the State. Quoted by Angop, the minister also highlighted that the unit will bring gross revenue of approximately 139 million dollars annually.

It should be noted that the President of the Republic, who is already in Beijing for a three-day state visit, starting on Friday, has been busy. This Thursday, João Lourenço met with several Chinese businesspeople.

One of these audiences was with the chairman of China Gezghouba Group Corporation, Tan Hua. This company, according to a CIPRA note to which VerAngola had access, is the construction company of the "largest engineering project in Angola at the moment, the Caculo Cabaça Hydroelectric Plant (Kwanza river basin)".

The list of hearings also includes one with the China Aero-Technology International Engineering Corporation. "Another company that discussed issues linked to its activity in Angola with President João Lourenço is China Aero-Technology International Engineering Corporation, known by the acronym AVIC, the main firm involved in the construction of the 'Dr. António Agostinho Neto' International Airport in Icolo and Bengo, Luanda", says CIPRA.

The conversation was between Liu HongGuang, chairman of the AVIC Board of Directors and the Head of State.

João Lourenço also received Wang Tongzhou, chairman of the Board of Directors of China Road and Brige Corporation, a "construction company with considerable activity in Angolan territory, essentially in the field of road infrastructures".

Also worth mentioning is the meeting with Zhang Wedong, from the company Hebei Huatong Cable Group. "Zhang Wedong, an influential businessman in the aluminum sector, was part of the list of business leaders that the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, received throughout the afternoon and early evening, at the Protocolar Complex where he is staying, in the capital Chinese", says CIPRA, adding: "Investing in the aluminum production chain is part of the corporation's portfolio".

In the range of audiences, João Lourenço also held meetings with the chairman of the Board of Directors of Zheijiang Sunshine Industrial Group, Wu Hongxin, and with a representation of Safety Technology, a subsidiary of China Telecom, led by the chairman of the Board of Directors, Li Longqing.
