The situation worsened last week after torrential rains dragged and spread the debris throughout the city, even threatening the railway circulation, and forcing the defense and security agencies to intervene in the cleaning actions.
The problem began after the Provincial Government of Luanda rescinded contracts with the collection companies for inability to pay debts, which amounted to 308 million euros until November last year.
In the last 72 hours, according to the balance sheet of the Luanda provincial command, 15 traffic accidents were registered which resulted in five deaths and 87 injured.
There were also seized 11 firearms, of which six AKM machine guns, four pistols and a rifle and arrested 152 citizens, presumed authors of various crimes.
As part of the regularization and supervision of automobile traffic, two motorcycles were seized and 235 drivers were fined for various infractions.
