The head of state, João Lourenço, has already conveyed his condolences to the family.

"On behalf of my family and on my own, it is my duty to offer our deepest condolences to the mother, brothers and other family members, for the death of Leda Neto, which occurred this morning in Lisbon," said the President in a statement.

"We bow with sadness to the memory of Leda Neto, who in life knew how to honor her father's legacy, placing her knowledge and knowledge with simplicity and very humility at the service of the aggrandizement of the homeland of Agostinho Neto, her illustrious Father", read in the note from the Presidency.

João Lourenço also expresses "indefectible solidarity" with "the whole bereaved family in this moment of pain".
