The head of state of Spain met with the Spanish community residing in Luanda, at the end of his first day of official visit to Angola, accompanied by Queen Letizia and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, and said that he felt in this first day "the interest, sympathy and respect that Spain awakens" in this "beloved African country".

"There is no doubt that each one of you, from your job position – from your religious vocation, business, social, cultural or cooperation activity – contributes decisively to this good image of our country in Angola, which translates into in the affection we receive", he said.

The monarch addressed in particular those who are in Angola in the first place for solidarity, pointing out a hundred religious men and women, as well as a small group of cooperators who carry out work in non-governmental organizations (NGOs) present in the country, a task that is not easy, but which they perform with "delivery and professionalism".

He also welcomed those who work in Spanish companies, contributing to "foster commercial relations" between the two countries and so that other Spanish companies have opportunities in this market, also favoring the development of the country.

"The internationalization of our companies continues to be very necessary and, therefore, we work to promote it", an objective that is also the objective of the business forum that will take place on Wednesday, a high point in the agenda of the Spanish kings.

The monarch underlined that the relationship between Spain and Angola since independence has been close and that Spain has made a great effort in cooperation for development over the course of 30 years, "in especially tragic times for this nation".

"We were able to lay the foundations that allowed a good collaboration between us. We want to continue to deepen these ties and we are sure that the Government and the Angolan people want it as well", underlined Felipe VI, encouraging the community to strengthen this close relationship of which is "an essential component".
