João Lourenço was speaking in the Main Hall of the Presidential Palace, in Luanda, where this Tuesday he received the kings of Spain, Felipe and Letizia, on their first visit to a country in sub-Saharan Africa.

Underlining the relations of solidarity and cooperation that the two countries maintain, the President showed his satisfaction with the fact that this was his first visit to a country in sub-Saharan Africa, reflecting the importance they attribute to economic, cultural and scientific relations between the two countries.

The minister also addressed the exchange of decorations demonstrating the exemplary nature of relations between Angola and Spain, with emphasis on the granting of the highest Angolan distinction, the Agostinho Neto order to the Spanish monarch.

"Your State visit takes the relations that the two countries have been building in a solid and consistent manner to the highest level" and "encourages the achievement of the objectives set to achieve the objectives of excellence" in these relations.

He noted "with pleasure" the intensification of trade and economic exchanges with the growing presence of Spanish companies in the Angolan market, which is why a new framework of strategic priorities must be drawn up.

João Lourenço also highlighted the work of Spanish entrepreneurs who have contributed to the development of the country, highlighting the international university of Cuanza, in Bié.

João Lourenço also pointed out the resources that are available to Spanish investors interested in doing business in the country, "similar to what has happened with other investors in the world who did not want to miss out on opportunities".

The head of state also asked that Spain, which is preparing to assume the rotating presidency of the European Union in the second half of the year, include on the agenda of the mandate issues related to the support and financing of African economies to overcome difficulties that many still face, some of which are aggravated by the pandemic.

By assuming this responsibility, Spain will also work with other partners in the search for solutions to end the war in Ukraine and lasting peace for Europe, recalled João Lourenço who ended the speech, addressing condolences to the victims of the earthquake in Turkey.
