At the forum, which was attended by more than a hundred businessmen of various nationalities, Diamantino Azevedo introduced the diamond cutting and polishing industry to the Saurimo Diamond Development Hub (Lunda Sul province) and highlighted the improvements in legislation and the business environment, appealing to them to create factories in Angola.
The minister expressed the wish that Angola "increasingly participates in the diamond cutting industry segment" and added that as soon as the vacancies are filled at the Saurimo Pole, for which it seeks the status of a Free Zone, another one will be built. Polo, in Lunda Norte, a province that was represented at the forum by the governor, Ernesto Muangala.
The Saurimo Complex, opened in August 2021, has 26 lots, with three diamond cutting factories, a school factory and a training center currently installed and operating, with two units under construction and more than 20 vacancies to be filled. , according to Mirempet.
Located four kilometers from the city of Saurimo, the Polo, which had a public investment of 77 million dollars, aims to create, when fully operational, 5,000 jobs.
