"The project to launch and honor singers of the old generation, essentially aims to recognize their contribution in the development, preservation and passing of testimony to the new generation for the preservation of the cultural values that guide Angolan music", says Unitel, in a statement sent to VerAngola.
The first artist to be honored will be Filipe Mukenga. According to the note, "this is a tribute and offer from Unitel, for its achievements, talent and mastery, consolidated over several years of career".
The tribute to Mukenga will take place at the Royal Plaza Hotel in Talatona, at 9 pm. At the gala, the musician's fans will be treated to his new album, called "Canções e Destinos".
The album consists of 13 songs and features the participation of Dalú Roger, Joãozinho Morgado, Yasmane Santos, Mayo Bass, Jorge Cervantes, Max k7, Nelo Paim, Tedi N'singui, Mário Gomes, Marito Furtado, Lito Graça, Chalana Dantas , Carla Moreno, among others.
Cited in the statement, the musician says that his "work has a regional, rooted Angolan side and a very large international side", as he is "a citizen of the world" and wants his music "to meet that idea", so that it can be "listened to anywhere on the globe".
Born in Luanda on September 7, 1949, Mukenga is considered one of the greatest references of national music, who became famous in traditional Angolan rhythms, being very influenced by Jazz.
The singer-songwriter is influenced by Pop, Rock, Blues and Soul styles. His curriculum includes albums such as "Novo Som" - his first album released in 1990 -, "Kianda Kianda" (recorded in Paris and released in 1994), among others.
In addition, the singer has also collaborated with international artists such as Djavan and Rui Veloso.
It should be noted that the musician was recently awarded the National Prize for Culture and Arts.
