Country records 45 deaths and 1,081 cases of cholera since the beginning of the outbreak

Health authorities announced the notification, in the last 24 hours, of 65 cases of cholera and two deaths, totaling 1081 cases and 45 deaths since the beginning of the outbreak, the Ministry of Health announced this Monday.

According to the status of the cholera outbreak, of the 65 cases of the disease, 33 were registered in the province of Luanda, 19 in the province of Bengo, 12 in the province of Icolo and Bengo and one in the province of Huambo.

Regarding deaths, two were recorded in Luanda, in the municipalities of Sambizanga and Mulenvos, and 104 patients with cholera are currently hospitalized.

Since the start of the outbreak, a cumulative total of 1,081 cases have been reported, with 748 in Luanda, 201 in Icolo and Bengo, 124 in Bengo, three in Malanje, three in Huambo and two in Huíla, with people aged between two and 86 years, of which 554 (51 percent) were female and 527 (49 percent) were male.

The data indicate that Luanda leads with 32 deaths, followed by Bengo with eight and Icolo and Bengo, with five.

The most affected age group is from two to five years old, with 183 cases and six deaths, followed by the age group from 10 to 14 years old, with 145 cases and three deaths.

The Ministry of Health urges people to immediately seek out cholera treatment centers if they have someone at home with watery diarrhea and vomiting.

“In the meantime, you should drink plenty of boiled or treated water with five drops of bleach and prepare homemade serum (one liter of boiled or treated water and add two tablespoons of sugar and one teaspoon of salt),” they urge. health authorities.
