Registered in the municipality of Hoque, the case refers to a patient who is hospitalized at the municipal hospital in Toco, with symptoms of watery diarrhea and vomiting since Thursday.
According to Paulo Luvangamo, director of the Provincial Health Office, as soon as they learned of this suspicion, an epidemiological surveillance team went to the hospital to carry out the rapid test, which came back positive.
The official, in statements at a press conference, cited by Angop, explained that this is an autochthonous case coming from Luanda - the patient in question lives in the locality of Trinta, in the capital - and that entered the province of Huíla on Thursday to conduct business at Kilometer 40, in the municipality of Hoque, where she is staying.
According to the director, epidemiological surveillance work is underway to identify people who have had direct contact, and there are already, in municipal terms, minimum conditions to guarantee patients with cholera, writes Angop.
It is worth remembering that, to date, the country has recorded more than 780 cases of cholera and more than 35 deaths, with Luanda being the province most affected by this disease.
