The works of the passenger, cargo and breakwater terminals in Soyo and Cabinda are already 88 percent executed. For this reason, it is estimated that the ship will start operating at the end of the first quarter of this year.
"We hope that from this quarter the ship 'Cabinda', which is already in the country, can start transporting people and containerized cargo, including vehicles," said Marcos Nhunga, governor of Cabinda, quoted by Angop.
The ship, which was built in the Netherlands, arrived in Angola in November last year. With 48 meters long and a maximum speed of 20.5 nautical miles per hour, the vessel will connect Cabinda, Soyo and Luanda.
The ship, capable of carrying 62 people, nine containers and 10 vehicles, will be part of Secil Marítima's catamaran fleet.
This ship aims to respond to the difficulties of maritime connection between Luanda, Soyo and Cabinda as well as to help improve the living conditions of the population.
