"This visit has several aspects, this will have a huge impact on the region, you know that this Lobito Corridor will connect the two oceans, the Atlantic and the Indian and, naturally, throughout this region there will be industrial development under all aspects, especially agribusiness", Pedro Godinho told Lusa this Wednesday.

The visit of US President Joe Biden to the country demonstrates that "there is a strong US engagement with Angola" and signals the "maximum exponent" in diplomatic relations between Luanda and Washington, considered the official.

Pedro Godinho also stated that, even with Donald Trump's administration, which returns to the White House at the end of January, the Lobito Corridor, an infrastructure that counts on investments from the USA and the European Union, will continue to be a hub of interest for the north Americans.

"Even with the Trump administration, the project will constitute a center of interest for the USA, because we cannot forget that the world today is talking about energy transition", said the leader, remembering that the critical minerals for the energy transition are located in the Democratic Republic of Congo (RDCongo) and Angola.

"For all this, (...) we have no doubt that this is the starting point", stressed the president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Angola (Amcham-Angola).

The outgoing President of the USA, Joe Biden, who is on the last day of his visit to Angola, will participate this Wednesday in the city of Lobito, province of Benguela, in an international conference on the Lobito Corridor, a meeting that also brings together heads of state of Angola, DRCongo, Zambia and the Vice President of Tanzania.

In the opinion of the president of Amcham-Angola, the importance of the Lobito Corridor was reflected in the words of Joe Biden who, on Tuesday, said, in Luanda, in a meeting with his Angolan counterpart, that the future of the world is in Angola and in Africa.

"And when a US President says this publicly, it means that he has all the information that leads him to make such a statement", maintained Pedro Godinho, noting that regional development will only depend on "leadership and the will to do something towards to improve the conditions of these martyred people".

"So let's not have any doubts: it will be a regional development and, particularly, for the country", he highlighted.

The Angolan businessman also stated that he has no doubt that diplomatic relations between Angola and the USA have reached their peak due, above all, to some reforms developed by the President of the Republic in the areas of "transparency, combating corruption, gender equality and human rights".

"These principles are the same ones shared by the American nation, therefore, if there are convergences of principles, the relationship between States becomes easier and then also the important role that Angola is playing due to the performance of João Loureço as mediator in the region, who has been very encouraging and recognized", concluded Pedro Godinho.
