On the occasion, the head of state began by wishing "very successful wishes" in carrying out his duties.

"On this occasion when we hold the swearing-in ceremony of the Minister of Economy and Planning, as well as the Secretary of State for the Environment, I would like to wish you much success, much success, in carrying out the new functions that, from today onwards, you will perform", said João Lourenço.

In his intervention, João Lourenço considered the economy as fundamental, adding that all the work "is aimed" at organizing the economy "as best as possible".

"The economy is something that is fundamental for us. All of our work, all of our struggle, is to organize our economy as best as possible, diversifying sources of income and seeking to produce more and more goods and services internally, to reduce imports and increase exports, as well as increasingly guaranteeing a greater number of jobs for our citizens and, in particular, for our young people", he stated, quoted in a post on the Facebook page of Presidency of the Republic, to which VerAngola had access.

The head of state said that "this is the Executive's main mission", reiterating that it involves "better organizing and better structuring" the economy.

Regarding the Environment sector, the President of the Republic highlighted the country's recent participation in COP 28.

"Regarding the Environment, we have just come from Dubai, from COP 28, which ended yesterday. I must say that the Environment is also something very important for all governments in the world, as it is a unanimous opinion that our The planet is threatened by the excesses of men, of industries that, in essence, are men, people", he stated.

"We are feeling the consequences of these excesses that over many years, perhaps even centuries, we have been carrying out, harming the Environment", he added.

In this sense, he considered there to be a need to defend the planet and Humanity: "The time has come when the Environment is defending itself, attacking us. The time for reversal has arrived. We have already attacked too much and, at this moment, it is the Environment who is attacking us. Therefore, we need to defend both, defend the planet, defend Humanity, but also defend the planet itself".

According to the Presidency of the Republic, the ceremony was attended by the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, as well as ministers of State, ministers and members of the President of the Republic's cabinet.
