Port of Namibe raised more than five billion kwanzas this year

More than five billion kwanzas were raised by the Port of Namibe this year. According to the chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of the port, Nazaré Neto, the port handled more than one million tons of cargo, with the export of ornamental stones having greater prominence.

According to the person in charge, around 1.307.578 tons of different cargo were moved through the port.

"The Port of Namibe handled around 1.307.578 tons of different cargo, 855.294 tons in the import/export segment and 452.284 tons in the cabotage segment, that is, in the unloading of fuel and its derivatives," he said, quoted by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA).

The official also made it known that the export of ornamental stones was more prominent, corresponding to more than half of the total cargo handled by the port: "The export of ornamental stones represented about 71 percent of the total cargo handled by the Port of Namibe".

He also announced that the company raised more than five billion kwanzas. "The Port of Namibe generated gross revenue of 5.088.446.729,74 kwanzas and 74 cents," he said, quoted by RNA.
