Car accidents caused 2643 deaths until November

Until the end of November, Angola had registered a total of 2,643 deaths and 13,454 injured following 11,827 road accidents, the second leading cause of death in the country, announced the interior minister.

Eugénio Laborinho advanced the numbers in the closing speech this Tuesday of the extended advisory council of the Ministry of the Interior, which served to assess several draft legal diplomas, with emphasis on the Organic Statute of the Ministry of the Interior, as well as the Report on the Situation of Public Security, from January to November 2022.

In the field of road accidents, the minister stressed that the number of road accidents increased by over 77, compared to the previous period.

In Angola, road accidents are the second cause of death after malaria, affecting mostly young people.
