Country prepares logistical conditions to receive vaccine against covid-19 in the first quarter of 2021

Health authorities will train technicians and gather logistical means to receive the first vaccines against covid-19 at the beginning of next year, the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda told Lusa.

:

"We are working for the first quarter," confirmed the official, referring that the vaccines will be given in health units indicated by the Ministry of Health.

Franco Mufinda announced in the usual epidemiological assessment, on Wednesday, that Angola will start receiving vaccines in the first quarter of 2021, with "conditions in the cold chain" being prepared.

According to the priority defined by the ministry, risk groups (health professionals and others, hypertensive, sickle-cell, obese, diabetics, cancer and kidney patients, seropositive and elderly) will be vaccinated in the first phase.

On the occasion, Franco Mufinda appealed to the population not to "be fooled by false vaccine networks".

Angola recovered 109 patients and registered an additional 75 new cases of covid-19, as well as three deaths, according to the assessment made on Wednesday.

Angola counts a total of 15,804 infected, with 8579 considered recovered, 358 deaths and 6867 active patients.
