"Our interest is to further highlight food safety, from its most diverse perspectives, essentially the inspection activity, ensuring that the product that is delivered to citizens through the commercial network, and beyond, meets the necessary quality and health safety characteristics", said the governor this Monday.
For Rui Miguéns, there needs to be harmonization in methods, means, procedures, as well as in the legislation that frames the monitoring activity of economic activity, in general, in Angola and in the Member States of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP).
Speaking after the opening ceremony of the VIII Forum of Food Safety Inspections and Economic Activities (FISAAE), which runs until Wednesday in Luanda, the minister noted that Angola will assume the rotating presidency of this multilateral regional body.
In his speech, Rui Miguéns stated that the country prioritizes food security, which includes increasing domestic production, aiming at self-sufficiency in widely consumed foods, and ensuring its quality.
The implementation of an economic environment that promotes free initiative and fair competition between economic operators, with a view to establishing a fair price for goods for widespread food consumption, constitutes Angola's second bet in this segment, he explained.
"It is not surprising, therefore, that we support with particular interest and justified positive expectations the developments in the work and the conclusions reached in this forum", he highlighted.
The minister highlighted that, 10 years after the institutionalization of FISAAE, as a platform for cooperation and consultation on issues of food security and economic inspection, this represents the will of the Governments of the CPLP countries to, together, work for the best interests of the populations.
The forum takes place under the motto "Food Fraud: Risk Factors and Control and Prevention Measures".
