Exxon Mobil will explore oil in the Namibe basin in the second half of 2024

Exxon Mobil, a North American oil company, is expected to begin exploring oil in the Namibe basin in the second half of 2024, announced the company's vice president, Hunter Farris, received by President João Lourenço.

Hunter Farris said, after leaving the audience with the head of state, that the company has already invested more than 30 billion dollars in the development of oil resources in Angola.

"We continue, proudly, to invest in block 15 and we are also working to develop new resources and the very important milestone will be to start exploration activity in the Namibe basin", said Hunter Farris in statements to the press.

According to the vice-president for Deepwater Operations at Exxon Mobil, the company currently has a daily production of 175 thousand barrels of oil, stressing that new drillings imply an increase in investment, for the activity to start in the second half of next year.

At this time, the official added, exploration studies are underway to determine the oil potential of the concession area.
