Road accidents caused 57 deaths and 282 injuries in the country in the last week

The country recorded 57 deaths and 282 injuries, out of a total of 279 road accidents in the last week, announced this Monday the National Police.

According to the specialist of the National Police's Institutional Communication and Press Directorate, Venâncio Vicente, Luanda led the list of accidents with 68 accidents, of which 20 only over the weekend, which resulted in 12 deaths and nine injuries.

Venâncio Vicente referred that between the 29th of October and the 4th of this month, 39 firearms of various calibers were also seized, as well as 166 vehicles and 321 motorbikes.

In the same period, 906 suspects of various crimes were preventively detained, namely 150 robberies, 249 thefts, 23 homicides, 36 sexual assaults and 166 serious and simple offenses to physical integrity.

Under Operation Transparency, which aims to combat illegal immigration, 72 citizens of the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo were arrested and 128 diamond stones were seized, in addition to 36,036 liters of fuel that were intended for sale in neighboring countries.
