Covid-19: Angola registers 20 infections and one death in the last 24 hours

Angola registered 20 positive cases, one death and 863 recovered, in the last 24 hours, announced this Sunday the health authorities.

According to the epidemiological bulletin of the National Health Directorate, the cases were all registered in Luanda, aged between 6 and 68 years, being 12 males and eight females.

In the same period, the death of a 64-year-old man was reported in Huíla province, having, however, recovered 863 people, aged between 2 and 63 years, of which 853 in Luanda, five in Huambo, three in Bié and two in Benguela.

With data from the last 24 hours, Angola counts 64,674 confirmed cases, 1720 deaths, 60,016 recovered and 2938 active, of which ten in critical condition, six serious, 23 moderate, 19 mild and 2880 asymptomatic, 58 people being hospitalized, 83 others in institutional quarantine and 96 contacts under epidemiological surveillance.

The laboratories processed 681 samples by RT-PCR, with a daily positivity rate of 2.9 percent, pointing the cumulative to 1,133,560 processed samples, with a positivity rate of 5.7 percent.

Covid-19 has caused at least 5,042,330 deaths worldwide, among more than 249.43 million infections by the new coronavirus registered since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the latest report by the Agence France-Presse.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected at the end of 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in several countries.
