João Lourenço invites investors to learn about business opportunities in Angola

This Tuesday, the President of the Republic invited investors to examine the range of business opportunities in the country in the sectors of agriculture and livestock, industry, fisheries, transport, construction and tourism.

João Lourenço spoke this Wednesday at the Forum on Investment in Angola, organized under the annual British initiative known as "Africa Debate", which had the active involvement of the Institute for Global Change, led by the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom , Tony Blair.

According to the President, quoted in a press release, this event means for Angola an opportunity to present the country in renewal, an emerging economy, which wants to become a preferred destination for investors.

The head of state underlined that measures are being taken to improve the business environment, reduce dependence on oil and attract foreign investment to the country's diverse natural resources and other economic sectors.

"Since 2017, we started a process of implementing reforms to promote investment and increase competitiveness.

We started a process of privatization of companies and assets, with emphasis on sectors that offer great competitive advantages for the private investor, so I use this platform to invite the investor community to be proactive in taking advantage of this window of opportunities ", urged João Lourenço.

Still in the framework of reforms, the President clarified, laws were passed that establish principles for private investment and promote competition in the market, as well as the exchange rate was liberalized and measures were taken against corruption and impunity, with a view to creating a better business environment.

According to the head of state, these measures are essentially aimed at transforming the economy and attracting private investment, to help reduce inequality, create jobs and rapid growth.

"Angola today is a safe place to invest, offering a stable and favorable business environment, with a young, hard-working, entrepreneurial spirit and eager to embrace the challenges of a growing market", guaranteed João Lourenço, also highlighting the favorable geographical location of Angola in accessing the markets of Southern and Central Africa.

For the resumption of economic growth in Angola, João Lourenço emphasized, it is necessary to increase investment, "in order to provide Angolans, particularly youth, with better incomes and, in this way, increase the well-being of their families".
