“Politics is a game and as in any game, competition, only teams win whose players or athletes submit themselves to the organization and discipline of the collective, and respect the rules of the game and guidance from the technical committee,” said João Lourenço at the opening of the meeting of the Central Committee of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA).

In recent months, intentions have been advanced by candidates for the presidency of the MPLA, such as those of General Higino Carneiro, when João Lourenço is prevented by the Constitution from running for a third term as President of the Republic.
Regarding Angola's 50 years of independence, which will be celebrated on November 11, 2025, the motto for holding an extraordinary MPLA congress in December this year, João Lourenço highlighted that the country should be proud of its history.
According to João Lourenço, in recent years Angola has been improving its reputation and gaining prestige in the international arena, thanks to its dynamic diplomacy, but above all due to the reforms carried out in various areas of the country's political, economic and social life.
