"Given the projected track and strength of Hurricane Milton, President Biden is postponing his trip to Germany and Angola to oversee preparations for and response to Hurricane Milton, as well as the ongoing response to the impacts of Hurricane Helene," a statement from the US presidency said.
The statement, signed by White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, did not refer to a cancellation but rather a "postponement" without giving any further details.
Biden's visit to Angola was scheduled to take place next week, from 13 to 15 October, while his visit to Germany was scheduled for 10 to 12 October.
