About a year and a half later, TAAG flies back to Nigeria

Flights between Luanda and Lagos, Nigeria, were resumed this Thursday. TAAG flies back to Nigeria about a year and a half after connections to that country were interrupted due to restrictions imposed by covid-19.

With this return, the flag airline plans to carry out two flights a week to that Nigerian city: on Mondays and Thursdays.

According to Angop, the flights will be performed at night time with the Boeing 737-700.

The inaugural flight, which took place this Thursday, was witnessed by the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Angola to Nigeria, Eustáquio Januário Quibato, who was accompanied by members of the diplomatic mission accredited to Nigeria.

According to a note from the embassy, cited by Angop, the ambassador considered that TAAG's decision to fly back to Lagos is important to help stimulate commercial, academic and tourist relations between the two countries.

"It is a very positive response to the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Bilateral Airspace Agreement-BASA, signed between Angola and Nigeria," he informed.

The return of flights to Nigeria is part of TAAG's international repositioning plan, which covers routes with Lisbon, Johannesburg, Maputo, among others, after an interregnum that started last year because of covid-19.
