Covid-19: Angola announces three more deaths and 227 new cases in 24 hours

Angola recorded three more deaths due to covid-19, 227 new positive cases of the new coronavirus and 499 recoveries in the last 24 hours, announced this Thursday the national directorate of Public Health.

According to the health entity's epidemiological bulletin, new cases were reported in the provinces of Luanda (190), Cabinda (18), Huíla (8), Huambo (5), Benguela (3), and Lunda Norte, Malanje and Namibe with one each case.

The three deaths were registered in Luanda (2) and Benguela (1).

During this period, the laboratories processed 3016 samples by RT-PCR with a daily positivity rate of 7.5 percent. The cumulative points to 1,085,350 processed samples with a positivity rate of 5.9 percent.

Angola totals 63,576 positive cases, with 52,390 recovered, 9492 active and 1685 dead.

Covid-19 has caused at least 4,919,395 deaths worldwide, among more than 241.95 million infections by the new coronavirus registered since the start of the pandemic, according to the latest report by the Agence France-Presse.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected at the end of 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in several countries.
