Vaccination against covid-19 will begin door-to-door

Francisco Pereira Furtado, coordinator of the Commission for Prevention and Combat to Covid-19, announced that, soon, vaccination against this disease should begin to be carried out door-to-door. The official explained that this new mode of vaccination will be aimed at the elderly and people who have "difficulties in walking".

Francisco Pereira Furtado explained that more nurses will be recruited, particularly young ones, to take care of "the older ones who have some comorbidities".

"It is an ongoing work that we are going to do and with the introduction of a new variant of door-to-door vaccination modality for those elderly people, people with some obesity who cannot move," said Francisco Pereira Furtado, quoted by Rádio Nacional of Angola (RNA).

The coordinator indicated that there will be "specific teams that will start going to these places with the help of the local administrations", with a view to vaccinating "as many people outside the vaccination posts, those who have real mobility difficulties".

Francisco Pereira Furtado also took the opportunity to mention that the number of vaccination posts in the country has been growing. "We started with a number of around 60 posts across the country. Today we have more than 180 posts open. Luanda alone has 73 vaccination posts and we are going to continue this effort," he said.
