Covid-19: Angola confirms 53 more cases in the last 24 hours

Angola diagnosed 53 more cases of covid-19 and registered two deaths, as well as the recovery of nine patients in the last 24 hours, announced the health authorities.

Of the 53 new cases, of which 30 male and 23 female, aged between 21 days and 81 years, 43 were identified in Luanda and 10 in Zaire.

A man and a woman, aged 22 and 67, died from the disease and another nine people were considered recovered.

There are now 62,842 cases of the disease in Angola, of which 1664 deaths, 10,552 active and 50,626 recoveries.

In the last 24 hours, 1122 samples were processed by RT-PCR (47 positive and 1075 negative), with a positivity rate of 4.2 percent, bringing the cumulative total to 1,070,329 samples.

Covid-19 has caused at least 4,891,684 deaths worldwide, among more than 240 million infections by the new coronavirus registered since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the most recent report by the Agence France-Presse.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected at the end of 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in several countries.
