The epidemiological situation in Angola, which registers worrying moments, was presented this Thursday by the government official during a press conference of the Multisectorial Commission for the Prevention and Fight against Covid-19 in Angola.
According to Sílvia Lutucuta, the province of Luanda led the largest number of new cases in the last 24 hours, 402, followed by the province of Cuanza Sul (99), Benguela (61), Huambo (46), Cabinda (19), Uíge (18 ), Huíla (9), Cunene (4), Bié (2), Cuando-Cubango (2) and Lunda Norte and Zaire with one case each.
The deaths were registered in Luanda (6), Benguela (3) and in the provinces of Cuando-Cubango and Huambo with registration of one death each.
During this period, the laboratories processed 5030 samples by RT-PCR and 644 new positive cases were registered. Angola now has a daily positivity rate of 13.3 percent.
Angola, which has been living for more than a year in a situation of calamity, totals 57,247 positive cases, 47,950 recovered, 1548 deaths and 7749 active cases, namely 28 in critical condition, 44 severe and 192 moderate, 74 mild and the remainder asymptomatic.
The minister stated that the active cases in the country are a problem "because most of these are dealt with at home because they are asymptomatic or have mild manifestations".
Sílvia Lutucuta also lamented the "constant disobedience" of citizens towards biosecurity measures, considering that the "alteration of the galloping increase in new cases depends on the behavior of everyone".
