In a joint initiative between the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Sonangol, and Gemcorp, the 'Kuma' project was launched this Wednesday in Cabinda. Focused on technical and professional training, it aims to train more than 5,000 people in the province in certified courses in areas such as mechanics, electrical engineering, welding, hydraulics, IT, and tourism, to serve the local and national markets.

'Kuma,' which means 'to grow' in the local language, will feature the Caio and Blessed Home Vocational Training Centers, which were rehabilitated and equipped by Sonangol and Gemcorp Angola, transforming them into professional training centers.

The program prioritizes the participation of young people, female heads of households, and people with reduced mobility, promoting the reduction of unemployment and the development of local skills.

In addition to training in various fields, students will also receive a logistical support package that includes food, transportation, uniforms, and teaching materials. Furthermore, each graduate will receive a monthly allowance of 100,000 kwanzas during their training.

Susana de Abreu, governor of the province, opened the launch ceremony and stated that this is a milestone for Cabinda. "This initiative promotes not only the technical training of our citizens, but also the productive inclusion and economic development of the province, creating real opportunities for young people and local families."

Diamantino Azevedo, Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, emphasized that the program "reinforces the government's commitment to sustainable development and social inclusion in Cabinda, creating the conditions for thousands of citizens to acquire technical skills and find employment opportunities in the region."

In turn, Gaspar Martins, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sonangol, said in his speech that "the partnership with MIREMPET and Gemcorp Angola within the scope of the KUMA Project is an example of how the oil sector can contribute to local development, training a skilled workforce and supporting Cabinda's socioeconomic growth."
