Angola creates multisectoral commission to prepare for presidency of CPLP

Angola has created a multi-sectoral commission to prepare the 13th Summit of Heads of State of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), in Luanda, and to coordinate the presidency of the Portuguese-speaking group, which it will assume in 2021.

:

According to the presidential decree published this Tuesday in the Diário da República, the Ad Hoc Committee, coordinated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, also includes the Minister of the Interior (deputy coordinator), the Ministers of Finance, Education and Culture, Tourism and Environment, and the Ministers of Economy and Planning, Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, and Telecommunications, Information Technology and Social Communication.

Angola was supposed to assume the presidency of the CPLP in July of this year, following the deliberation of the XII Summit, held in Cape Verde in 2018, but the covid-19 pandemic led to the postponement of this intention, ending Cape Verde by extending the organization's rotating presidency until 2021.

The commission, responsible for preparing the program for the Angolan presidency and the respective budget, begins its work six months before it begins - the date of which is yet to be defined - and ends three months after the transfer of portfolios to the new leadership.

He must also present quarterly reports and a final report on the activities developed, thirty days after the end of the presidency of Angola, determines the diploma.

The CPLP Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe and Timor-Leste are members.
