UNITA concerned about acts of political intolerance

UNITA expressed concern about acts of political intolerance that are taking place across the country against citizens critical of the regime and "unethical" actions against the leader of this political formation.

In a press release, to which the Lusa agency had access, the Standing Committee of the Political Commission of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) reports that it was informed by the press of the plan of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), ruling party, which aims to "fight to the point of exhaustion" the party president, Adalberto Costa Júnior.

At issue is a news item published by the weekly newspaper Novo Jornal, which reports the plan, which admits the movement of party arsenal, whose main target is Adalberto Costa Júnior, using the invasion of the private sphere of the UNITA leader.

The position consists, according to the weekly, of a study called "Strategic positioning of the MPLA to reinforce its affirmation in the current political scenario in face of the political opponents in the opposition", which places Adalberto Costa Júnior as the new leader of the opposition to the comrades, whose research recommends that it be "watched and fought to exhaustion".

"In view of its seriousness, the Standing Committee of the Political Commission warns national and international public opinion of the danger that this horrendous MPLA plan represents for the vital political and social stability in Angola," the UNITA statement said.

For Angola's second largest political force, the plan reveals "the MPLA's unpreparedness for healthy political competition, in a democratic environment and its attachment to power, by means not provided for in the Constitution of the Republic, through the subversion of State institutions, as is the case with the National Electoral Commission, the courts and political and electoral corruption ".

According to the note, the constant involvement of the State Intelligence and Security Services in solicitation actions and the purchase of consciences in favor of the ruling party, is another flagrant violation of citizens' rights, unacceptable, 28 years after the institutionalization of the state. democratic in Angola.

"The Standing Committee concludes that the acts of political intolerance that often occur across the country against citizens critical of the regime and now reinforced with the intention of triggering unethical actions against President Adalberto Costa Júnior, are also revealing of the MPLA's dictatorial and exclusive character" , referred to in the document.

Such acts, for the largest opposition party, also indicate the MPLA's despair at the growing awareness of citizens aggravated by the country's bad governance since 1975 by the same party.

"The Standing Committee urges militants, sympathizers, friends and Angolan citizens in general, to remain serene, vigilant and not to respond to the provocations in the face of the maneuvers of those who have always resorted to violence to perpetuate themselves in power", emphasizes in the note.
