Covid-19: country accounts for 289 new positive cases and four deaths

The health authorities announced this Wednesday the registration of 289 covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours, of which four deaths, with three patients having been recovered.

The Secretary of State for Public Health before describing the epidemiological situation of the country read a message of condolence for the death of doctor João Sardinha, head of the department of medical services of the National Police.

According to Franco Mufinda, the doctor João Sardinha stood out in the relentless fight against covid-19, as head of the medical services of the general police command.

Franco Mufinda said that of the total number of cases registered in the last 24 hours, 249 were registered in the province of Luanda, 15 in Uige, 15 in Cabinda, five in Zaire, two in Huambo, one in Benguela and two in Kwanza Norte, being 196 men and 93 women, aged between one month and 85 years.

The four deaths, three men and one woman, aged 27, 65, 67 and 75, were all registered in Luanda.

With this Wednesday's data, Angola reached a cumulative of 8338 cases, of which 255 deaths, 3040 recovered and 5043 active, of which nine are in critical condition, 20 severe, 115 moderate, 462 light and 4437 asymptomatic.

In the treatment centers of the country 606 patients are being followed up, 13 more people than the previous day.

In the laboratory services, 1763 samples were processed, of which 289 were positive, pointing the cumulative to date to 137,682 samples, of which 8338 were positive.

The covid-19 pandemic has already caused more than 1.1 million deaths and more than 40.8 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a balance sheet made by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected at the end of December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.

After Europe succeeded China as the center of the pandemic in February, the American continent now has the most confirmed cases and the most deaths.
