Russia wants to build laboratory to manufacture covid-19 vaccines in Angola

Russia wants to build a laboratory for the manufacture of vaccines against covid-19 in Angola. The will was expressed this Wednesday by the ambassador of the Russian Federation in the country, Vladimir Tararov.

:

"We sent the proposal to the Angolan side in writing, even from the supply of these vaccines and of course we are open to the construction of a factory to produce the vaccine against covid-19, but this depends only on the desire and availability of the Angolan Government," said the ambassador, in statements to the Angolan Public Television (TPA).

Vladimir Tararov was speaking this Wednesday at the 4 de Fevereiro Airport, where he witnessed the delivery of biosafety materials by Russia to Angola.

More than 18 tons of biosafety material arrived on board the humanitarian flight. Among the material coming from Russia was a 'kit' composed by 5000 RT-PCR tests.

"This is an aid from the Russian people to the Angolan people", indicated the ambassador, stressing that the delivery of material represents a "symbolic act of transmission of humanitarian aid that shows our historical obligations".

"The friend cannot leave another friend in a situation of calamity. We can overcome this evil, this disease, only in joint efforts," he added.

Franco Mufinda, Secretary of State for Public Health, who was also present at the delivery, took the opportunity to state that Angola received "just over a million" surgical masks, about 13 thousand biosafety facts, visors, alcohol and tests.

As for the latter, the responsible stated that the country did not expect to receive tests, having been "a surprise".

"The epidemiological path ends up dictating the decision process on the Government's side. If things get worse there is no other alternative but to make a review of the current process", he said, leaving an appeal to the population: to avoid risky behaviors in order to "not lead the Executive to take the measure we already had here, the state of emergency".
