In a note released through its portal, Minfin refers that the failures caused "irregularities with duplication in the payment of salaries for a significant number of public employees, referring to the month of September".
The ministry appealed to employees not to use these amounts, adding that the Information and Communication Technologies Service of Public Finances and banking institutions have already started procedures for reversing operations and crediting securities in favor of the National Treasury.
"Anyone who has used the values resulting from this computer failure, whether inadvertently or not, will be subject to the corresponding administrative and banking procedures, which may include non-payment, partial or total, of the salary provision for the following period", adds the ministry.
"In view of the seriousness and consequences of such a situation", Minfin also decided to audit its systems and ascertain the corresponding responsibilities.
The note did not mention how many employees were affected by the failure.
