"In relation to the objectives we had for this day, we can consider them achieved, taking into account the scope we had in the census of the homeless", the official pointed out, in a press conference on the current situation regarding the assessment of the first hours of the 2024 Census.
"The start of the field operation, as has already been announced, fundamentally covered the collection of information on the homeless. At this moment, we continue to survey all the points visited by the homeless throughout the national territory and we believe that, from the point of view of the assessment, we will have completely achieved the survey that we had done when updating the cartography", the official also explained.
According to José Calengi, they also had the opportunity to survey entities in the country.
"We also had the opportunity to survey entities in the country (...) so that, based on this census, we could then find in the words of these entities the necessary mobilisation for the population's adherence to this process", he said.
On the occasion, he also said that, considering the "complexity" of this process, they had "needed to improve some situations", believing that throughout the process they will continue to improve in order to achieve "optimal collection conditions".
Among the entities surveyed, the presidential couple stands out, namely the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, and the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, who received the census takers on Thursday morning at their residence.
The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, also responded to the census. According to a note from the Vice-President, to which VerAngola had access, Esperança da Costa, "accompanied by her family, was registered this Thursday in Luanda, as part of the General Population and Housing Census (RGPH) process, which began in the early hours of the same day, throughout the country".
It should be noted that the census began this Thursday and will last 30 days.
