"Perception TVCDN signed an agreement with Africell for the launch of a new free TV service in Angola, monetized with data revenues", can be read in a statement from Perception TVCDN, to which VerAngola had access.

Scheduled to launch in the fourth quarter of this year, this new service will offer Africell customers "the main linear TV channels in Portuguese" with the possibility of reviewing the programming up to seven days ago.

In addition, it will also include "new channels automatically scheduled from Portuguese-language VoD libraries and video content from the media".

"AfriTV will provide free content appealing to all ages, delivered in high-quality native applications for all popular platforms."

According to the statement, at launch all the operator's customers will be pre-registered with the applications, facilitating the process of accessing content.

The company also mentions that it invited "Portuguese content partners to join the service and benefit from this model".

Cited in the statement, Perception Group CEO John Mills said they were excited about the launch of AfriTV, noting that it is a "change in the TV landscape in Angola".

"We are very excited about the imminent launch of AfriTV in Angola. It marks a change in the TV landscape in Angola, offering Africell's mobile users a future-proof free TV service. It is also a landmark agreement for Perception TVCDN as the our first fully managed service in Africa, continuing our story of successful growth across Africa at large," he said.

The note also notes that the service will be "delivered using Perception TV CDN's state-of-the-art private TV CDN platform" and that "all streaming is secure and limited to Africell's mobile network in Angola".
