Coordinator of the Committee to Combat covid-19: relaxation has worsened the epidemiological situation

The change in the epidemiological picture was influenced by the citizens' relaxation in relation to preventive measures against covid-19 and by the circulation of highly transmissible and dangerous variants throughout the country.

This statement is made by the national coordinator of the Multisectoral Commission for Prevention and Combat to covid-19, Francisco Furtado, in the act of updating the measures to control the pandemic.

"In general, we are witnessing a relaxation on the part of the populations, which means that a significant number of citizens are not wearing face masks and are not complying with frequent hygiene measures", said the official, in a statement to that VerAngola had access.

Francisco Furtado, who is Minister of State and Head of the House of Security of the President of the Republic, also said that the easing of punitive measures by the forces of the defense and security bodies also influenced the epidemiological situation in the country.

The Minister of State considered the significant increase in positive cases during the month of September, with a growth rate of 13 percent, worrying.

The transmission rate tends to grow, according to Francisco Furtado, particularly in the provinces of Luanda, Huambo, Huíla and Benguela, as well as the mortality rate, which also rises in other provinces of the country.

About the vaccination process, he said that it continues across the country, with greater effort and greater promotion, aiming to achieve group immunity by the end of the year.

"In view of all this set of situations, the Multisectorial Commission took to the Executive's consideration the approval of preventive measures to control the spread of the disease, which are beginning to take effect," he explained.
