Covid-19: country reports 104 new cases and 12 more deaths

The country has reported 104 new cases of covid-19 in the last 24 hours, 12 deaths, and 30 people recovered, according to this Sunday's epidemiological bulletin from the National Directorate of Public Health.

The infections were diagnosed in Luanda (70), Huíla (17), Namibe (five), Benguela (three), Uíge (three), Bié (two), Moxico (two), Cunene (one) and Lunda Norte (one), with ages between 1 and 88 years, being 52 males and 52 females.

The 12 deaths, in the age group between 27 and 87 years, nine males and three females, happened in Huila (five), Luanda (four), Bié (two) and Namibe (one). Another 30 people, aged between 2 and 81, were reported recovered.

The laboratories processed 1652 samples for a cumulative 943,779 tests.

Since the pandemic began, Angola has recorded 50,446 cases, including 44,652 recovered, 4455 active, and 1339 deaths.

Covid-19 has caused at least 4,622,410 deaths worldwide, among more than 224.2 million infections by the new coronavirus recorded since the start of the pandemic, according to the most recent assessment by Agence France-Presse.

In Portugal, since March 2020, 17,861 people have died and 1,055,584 confirmed cases of infection have been counted, according to data from the Directorate General of Health.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in countries such as the United Kingdom, India, South Africa, Brazil or Peru.
