According to the information, this contract, signed by the subsidiary of the Portuguese group in the country, is a partnership, in equal parts, with the Angolan company Omatapalo and covers "the rehabilitation of the EN 230 between the locations of Muamussanda in the Province of Lunda Norte and Saurimo in Province of Lunda Sul over an extension of 267 kilometers ".
In addition, "the construction of the new circular variant of Saurimo over a 39.5 km extension is included, thus totaling the 306.5 km project", Mota-Engil said.
The group further explained that "the EN 230 is one of the main road routes in the country, connecting the capital Luanda to the city of Saurimo, crossing the provinces of Bengo, Kwanza Norte, Malange, Lunda Norte and Lunda Sul and subsequent connection to the Democratic Republic of Congo".
This path therefore assumes "special importance in supporting the development of the country's economic activity, with a special focus on agricultural and mining activities, as a logistical corridor that facilitates and accelerates the flow of supplies and production from both sectors of activity", added Mota-Engil.
"The value of the contract amounts to approximately US $ 335 million, will have a duration of 18 months, will start immediately and corresponds to the reinforcement of the order book in the road infrastructure component, thus diversifying the type of works underway in that market, fundamental aspect in the risk mitigation policy and maximization of the use of the assets that the group has in the country ", concluded the company.
On August 27, the group announced that it was negotiating a strategic partnership and investment agreement with China Communications Construction Company, Ltd. (ACPC), which will take 30 percent.
